Judicial Intervention In Personal Laws: Advancing Equality, Justice, And Gender Rights

ABSTRACT
This study examines the role of judicial activism in reforming personal laws in India, particularly in the domain of family law. Personal laws, rooted in religious practices, have often conflicted with constitutional principles such as equality and dignity. Through analysis of landmark Supreme Court judgments, the research highlights how the judiciary has intervened to ensure conformity with fundamental rights. The study concludes that while judicial activism has been instrumental in addressing inequalities, comprehensive legislative reform remains necessary for long-term consistency.
