ABSTRACT


This research paper provides an in-depth analysis of the legal challenges associated with platform-based employment in the gig economy of India, with a specific focus on worker rights and classification. It aims to understand the characteristics of gig workers in the emerging platform-based employment model. The paper explores India's existing legal framework and regulatory initiatives by critically examining their effectiveness and implications. The research aims to identify the gaps and limitations in the current legal system and propose potential solutions to safeguard the rights and interests of gig workers. Additionally, the study investigates the changing dynamics of the gig economy in India and its impact on gig, conventional, and non-conventional workers. The ultimate goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the gig economy's legal landscape in India and offer viable solutions for the betterment of gig workers.
