Legal Provisions Encompassing Animal Welfare: A Comparative Analysis Of Global Constitutional Frameworks

ABSTRACT


This research paper aims to conduct a comparative analysis of constitutional frameworks for animal welfare in several countries of developing or developed world. Moreover, this analysis will be based on the most relevant provisions of statutory law, their interpretation as well as the enforcement of the relevant constitutional guarantees regarding animal welfare. This study will also seek to address the concern as to what extent the animal welfare is provided for by the Constitutions in a normative sense. This paper will also discuss the general trends and some differences as well as new problems faced with regard to constitutional provisions which protect animals. In due course, this study will shed some light on the interaction between animal welfare and constitutional law and suggest ways that this can be taken forward in law and policy, in order to achieve the primary aim of animal welfare.
