Harshwardhan Mishra, BA.LLB., Xavier Law School, XIM University

ABSTRACT

LGBTQ Community members are subjected to many problems. This paper aims to create awareness about these challenges. It aims to create awareness about the LGBTQ+ community by trying to define what each alphabet stands for in a simplified manner as many are not aware about what these alphabets actually denote and may even be misinformed about the terms.

The paper also deals with the philosophers that have spoken about homosexuality especially in the early era. What the Natural Law School talked about homosexuality and same sex relationships and how the queer theory has developed with time. What thinkers such as Plato and Acquinas have said about homosexuality.

The paper also deals with the challenges that are faced by the LGBTQ community in detail such as self acceptance, homophobia, challenge of coming out, the problem of social exclusion while also highlighting the negatives of the community itself and some of the problematic issues in the community itself. Finally, the paper deals with the current legal status of the community and provides some suggestions on how to better their status and how to move forward to create an inclusive environment for the community.
