Tushar Malviya, Lovely Professional University Phagwara.

INTRODUCTION

Maintenance under Hindu law is a legal concept deeply rooted in the principles of compassion, social justice, and family responsibility in the Hindu community. It addresses the financial support and livelihoods of people who are unable to care for themselves and ensures that their well-being and dignity are protected. This important aspect of Hindu law is enshrined in various sources such as the Hindu Marriage Act, the Hindu Adoption and Maintenance Act, and traditional Hindu customs and customs. Support obligations arise in a variety of situations, including marriage, separation, divorce, and family relationships.

It is a legal and moral obligation for certain individuals, especially husbands and children, to support their dependents, including wives, minor children, and in some cases elderly parents.

Maintenance is covered by section 241of the 1955 Act, which provides relief and relief in terms of money and legal costs to a spouse who has separated from the marriage and is no longer able to support themselves during the proceedings.

Rephrase The notice to the spouse also provides that the amount and costs of the suit must be disposed of within 60 days as follows:

If a spouse has no source of income, upon application, spousal maintenance may be granted by court order as financial support to the parties to the dispute.
