ABSTRACT

Maternity rights are a cornerstone of gender equality in the workplace, reflecting society's commitment to supporting working women through one of life's most significant transitions. In India, a country with abundant cultural traditions and a rapidly changing economic landscape, the evolution of maternity rights legislation indicates a compelling story of social progress and ongoing challenges. The research paper will comprehensively analyze legislative reforms affecting maternity rights in the Indian workforce from 1961 to 2020. The study will examine the need for the law and the importance of the individual features of Maternity Benefits. The study will trace the evolution of these rights and their impact on Indian working women by examining key legislation in the laws relating to maternity benefits.
