ABSTRACT

An informed populace is the cornerstone of a robust democracy. A nation's democratic ideals are unquestionably enhanced by knowledgeable and enlightened citizens. Indian citizens have the invaluable right under the Right to Information Act to obtain information about any public authority or institution. The Public Welfare Policies Act grants citizens the right to know about government policies and public affairs. It enables people to challenge injustice and corruption, which may aid in stopping dishonest behavior by public servants. In addition, it encourages accountability in the operations of all public authorities; however, this law has certain gaps that must be filled in order to prevent its abuse.
