Panchayati Raj Institution In India: A Grass Root Level Of Democracy

ABSTRACT

The grass root democracy of our country starts from the villages. The Indian democracy has its emergence from the villages and panchayat. Panchayat raj institution is the heart and soul of the local self-government. The federal structure of Indian Government evolved from the grass root level of democracy. The Panchayati raj institution is one of the best examples of the federal structure of Indian democracy. To run the country’s democratic function smoothly the rural development is important. The aim of Panchayati Raj Institution is to develop the rural part of our country and the development of our village. The Panchayati Raj Institution is the glimpse of Gandhian model village. This institution was adopted in India by 73rd Constitutional Amendment to strengthen the local self-government.
