Cherie Barar, Amity Law School, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh

ABSTRACT

The complicated link between biodiversity and biotechnology is a cornerstone of contemporary scientific discourse. This article explores the complex relationship between these two realms, giving insight on their synergistic interactions, reciprocal interdependence, and potential consequences for ecological sustainability and human well-being. Beginning with an introduction of biodiversity's critical significance as the source of biological resources that support biotechnological breakthroughs, the article delves into how biotechnology, in turn, influences biodiversity through genetic engineering, molecular biology, and other novel techniques. The paper examines the enormous effects of biotechnology interventions on ecosystem dynamics, species conservation, and socioeconomic landscapes. Furthermore, it looks into the ethical, legal, and socioeconomic aspects of using biodiversity for biotechnological applications, highlighting the significance of equitable benefit-sharing, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.
