ABSTRACT
The Right to Information (RTI) stands as a cornerstone of democracy, enabling citizens to access information held by public authorities. In civil society, RTI plays a pivotal role in fostering empowerment, enhancing accountability, and promoting transparency. This abstract delves into the multifaceted contributions of RTI within civil society, examining its impact on governance, citizen participation, and social justice.
Firstly, RTI empowers citizens by providing them with the means to access crucial information about government policies, decisions, and actions. Through RTI mechanisms, individuals can hold public officials accountable for their actions, ensuring transparency and integrity in governance processes. This empowerment cultivates an informed citizenry capable of actively engaging in democratic processes, contributing to the enhancement of civil society's vibrancy and resilience.
In conclusion, the Right to Information (RTI) stands as a cornerstone of civil society, enabling empowerment, accountability, and transparency. By providing citizens with access to information, RTI mechanisms contribute to the strengthening of democratic institutions, the promotion of social justice, and the cultivation of an engaged and informed citizenry. As we navigate the complexities of modern governance and social dynamics, the continued promotion and protection of RTI remain essential for the advancement of civil society worldwide.
