ABSTRACT

The Sarkaria Commission distinguished some important issues in the relationship between the alliance and the state from the responses of the state government and ideological groups to the survey and memorandum. Some problems are caused by the way established foundations are used, some are due to the loopholes between hypothesis and training, or between soul and substance, and some are due to the political contrast between federal and state governments. This article summarizes the report of the Sarkaria Committee in 1988 and investigates it, which is the most obvious part of the progress in the study of Centre-state relation in India. This article focuses on the background of the establishment of the Sarkaria Committee and the response of the committee. This article discusses the key points regarding Article 355 of the Constitution of India and finally, the Sarkaria Committee’s various suggestions on the central state relations concerning Article 355 of the Indian Constitution.
