Streaming Wars: Global Competitive Analysis And India’s Legal Dynamics

Millind Dev, B.A. LL.B., Bennett University (The Times Group)

ABSTRACT

This paper delves into the rapidly growing Over-The-Top (OTT) market in India, with a particular focus on defining the market accurately within the Indian context. The author explores the distinct framework of OTT platforms compared to traditional television. The analysis examines prominent OTT merger cases from various global jurisdictions to gain a broader perspective. This comparative approach sheds light on how markets are defined elsewhere, the key players involved, and their market share distribution. Finally, by evaluating India's OTT market maturity, the research aims to ascertain whether competition concerns necessitate regulatory suggestions or if the market remains in its nascent stage.
