ABSTRACT

In an era marked by rapid digital transformation, cloud computing has become the bedrock of modern business operations in India, offering unparalleled convenience and scalability. Yet, this technological leap forward is shadowed by a labyrinth of security challenges, positioning Indian enterprises at a pivotal crossroads, where the promise of innovation collides with the perils of vulnerability. Against this backdrop, this research paper critically examines the evolving paradigm of cloud security in India, interrogating the adequacy of current management practices and the escalating sophistication of cyber threats. Anchored in the landmark AWS vs. Adarsh Developers legal dispute,a case that underscores the ambiguities in accountability, data sovereignty, and regulatory compliance, the study dissects the systemic gaps in India’s cloud security framework.

By analyzing the interplay between organizational strategies, legal precedents, and emerging threat vectors such as ransomware, misconfigured cloud architectures, and insider threats, the paper highlights the urgent need for robust governance models. Through a synthesis of case studies, stakeholder interviews, and policy analysis, the research proposes a multi- dimensional approach to fortify cloud ecosystems, emphasizing proactive compliance, advanced encryption protocols, and collaborative public-private frameworks.

Keywords: Cloud Security, Cybersecurity Governance, AWS vs. Adarsh Developers, Data Sovereignty, Cyber Threat Mitigation, Regulatory Compliance.
