ABSTRACT

The Artemis Accords, etched by the minds at NASA, set the stage for the future of the Artemis Program, envisaging a celestial domain where humanity collectively steps into unknown realms, exploring and collaborating beyond our Moon. These Accords are not merely markers of celestial milestones; they are the sentinels of a unified and coherent journey through the cosmos, deeply embedded in values of transparency, sustainability, and mutual recognition. In their essence, they are staunch defenders of international space norms, most notably, the Outer Space Treaty of 1967, establishing an atmosphere of peace and preventing unilateral space claims. However, the intertwining of interstellar ambitions and terrestrial legal frameworks brings forth a myriad of issues and fosters global dialogues about cosmic rights, territorial acquisitions, and the delicate balance between cooperative and competitive spirits in the vast celestial continuum. The article aims to research the intricate connections between the provisions of the Artemis Accords and international space law, probing the depths of legal, ethical, and practical aspects of space exploration. It delves into the implications of the Accords on international relations, celestial resource allocations, and the evolving dynamics of international partnerships and competition in space exploration. This exploration of the Artemis Accords serves as a pivotal touchstone in understanding their role in shaping global space governance, addressing potential conflicts, and fostering a sustainable and harmonious cosmic environment, thereby synchronizing the ever-evolving interstellar ambitions and advancements with the foundational principles of international space law.
