ABSTRACT


It is Austin who for the first time treated jurisprudence as a science of law concerned with analysis of legal concepts- their exposition, examination, comparison and above all distinguishes them logically and scientifically in order to determine their exact scope and role within given politically organized society, Austin jurisprudence is not a moral philosophy, but it is a scientific and systematic study of the existing actual and positive law as distinguished from material, ideal or model law. Austin she is that a science of law is concerned with a law or as it is and is not concerned with law as it ought to be


Austin classified jurisprudence into:

1. General jurisprudence

2. Particular jurisprudence
