Aastha Oza, D.E.S. Navalmal Firodia Law College

ABSTRACT

The National Green Tribunal in India was established on October 18, 2010, under the National Green Tribunal Act 2010, for the effective and expeditious resolution of cases relating to environmental protection and conservation of forests and other natural resources, as well as the enforcement of any legal right relating to the environment and the provision of relief and compensation for damages to persons and property, and for matters connected with or incidental thereto. It is a specialist organization with the knowledge required to address environmental disputes spanning many disciplines. The Tribunal is guided by natural justice principles rather than the procedures outlined in the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.
