ABSTRACT:

Juvenile delinquency poses significant challenges to societies worldwide, including India, where the burgeoning youth population necessitates effective interventions to prevent future criminal behaviour among young individuals. This paper examines various intervention strategies within the Indian juvenile justice system and explores preventive measures aimed at addressing the underlying causes of juvenile delinquency. Through the analysis of diverse approaches, including diversion programs, rehabilitation services, cognitive-behavioural therapy, restorative justice practices, and educational and vocational training, along with preventive measures such as school-based programs, community outreach initiatives, mentoring and counselling services, parental involvement, and trauma-informed care, this paper highlights the importance of a comprehensive and evidence-based approach to juvenile justice. By investing in rehabilitation, prevention, and early intervention efforts, stakeholders can promote positive youth development, reduce recidivism rates, and create safer, more supportive environments for India's youth.
