Mehul Mittal, Symbiosis Law School, Pune

ABSTRACT

Since the turn of the 21st century, the Internet 2.0 convergence of the digital, physical, and virtual has emerged and revolutionised our lives in unprecedented ways. Due to the increasing popularity of the metaverse, this is a step towards the next phase of the Internet, which some have called a new "cyber bubble." New trademark protection strategies in the metaverse are required in light of the proliferation of Internet 2.0 platforms. In India, the trademark industry is thriving and expected to continue expanding. It is made up of the individual's vested legal rights over their reputation in the marketplace. It strikes a reasonable balance between economic concerns and the public interest as a whole. In the real world, trademarks help consumers identify a product or service, and in the virtual world, they help to keep those brands safe. This research paper will be dealing specifically with concept of trademark protection in the virtual world.
