A Research On Gender Discrimination In India

ABSTRACT


Discrimination based on gender is a common civil right that take many forms of violation like sexual harassment, pregnancy, discrimination based on sex. Where in this society people think of men as superior of the family and women are not given equal rights as men. Women are not even allowed to acquire higher education as they are the pride of home so they will stay at home. Females also face discrimination in various fields like health, education, and job.


As girls carry the liability of dowry on their hands, they leave their parents’ house after their marriage. To safeguard their old parents some parents abort their female babies. Women are aware of discrimination in society and household. Married women perceive more discrimination at society level comparing to household level. Similarly, unmarried women perceive more discrimination in mobility and way of behavior.


Discrimination is the unequal or different treatment that cause harm to the society. It is unfair that the group of people treat the people in toxic manner based on race, gender, age or sexual orientation. It is debated for many decades. It is a social problem that causes unfair treatment in society between different genders. There are many effects of gender disparity in the society. It affects the scale of population, because of the discrimination of gender the number of newborn boys and girls are unequal.

The issue of gender discrimination is not just a question of injustice but ensuring that women and men have the equal opportunity in all aspect of life. The main reason for discrimination is the mentality of the society was raised with which was mainly implemented in people’s minds and children.
