Acceptance Of Live In Relationship Is Still A Distant Dream Even After Its Legalization: An Analysis

ABSTRACT


A live-in Relationship in layman’s terms means cohabitation without marriage. It is an adaptation wherein two people are simultaneously involved in a romantic and sexual relationship as partners either for a long period or permanently, wherein they decide to live together without getting married. Since the Indian legal framework legalized Live-in relationships, it is vital to know the obligations and responsibilities that come along with Live-in relationships. In this paper, the researchers would critically analyze the concept of live in a relationship and its genesis. The paper would also include the aspect of society toward live relationships and a comparative analysis between a marriage and a live in relationship. Then the people discuss the status of children born out of live-in relationships along with the critical analysis of westernization in terms of live in relationships. The people would also discuss various cases which has been given by the apex court on live in relationship. And as a part of empirical research, the researchers will analyze the various nuances of live in relationships. Finally, the paper would conclude with a short conclusion and suggestions given by the researchers.
