AI And Cybercrimes: A Critical Study

Satvik Sareen, Amity Law School, Amity University, Noida

ABSTRACT

The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the increasing number of cybercrimes is multifaceted and complex. AI-driven cyber crimes are proliferating because of many important factors. The automation capabilities of AI enable cybercriminals to execute attacks at scale and with greater speed, leveraging algorithms to perform various stages of the attack lifecycle. AI-powered tools facilitate the creation of sophisticated and adaptive malware that can evade traditional security measures, posing significant challenges for detection and mitigation. AI algorithms enable cybercriminals to craft highly targeted and convincing social engineering attacks, exploiting human vulnerabilities more effectively. The emergence of deepfake technology powered by AI poses threats to trust and authenticity, enabling the creation of manipulated media for malicious purposes. Moreover, AI systems themselves are vulnerable to adversarial attacks, where attackers manipulate inputs to deceive AI algorithms, leading to potential exploitation and compromise.
