ABSTRACT


This Seminar paper is an endeavor to contemplate the degree and ambit of the open government and Right to Information Act in India as well other nations. Nowadays citizens are more attracted towards the openness of the government. Therefore they seek more administrative interaction which brings out more transparency, accountability and integrity in the country. It is basically a key to renew the bond or the relationship between citizen and public officials and to regaining the trust in government. So, all in all this paper tries to seek the importance of open government and right to information which can play a pivotal role in maintaining good governance, democracy and inclusive growth. This paper tells us about what open government is and why it is important. It also mentions the best examples for opening up government data so that transparency would be maintained and which also provide value to both government and its citizens. This Paper also talks about RTI Act, 2005 It is considered as one of the most important and successful legislation in an independent India which introduced the concept of good governance This act was further amended in 2019. This concept of good governance was first introduced in 2005 through RTI and it is not only important in India but also in all the part of the countries.
