ABSTRACT
India, a diverse nation, boasts a rich tapestry of cultures, religions, and traditions. This diversity is reflected in its legal system, where personal laws govern matters such as marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption based on an individual's religion. However, this pluralistic approach has led to disparities and injustices, especially concerning gender equality and individual rights. This paper argues that the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is imperative to ensure equal justice for all citizens of India, irrespective of their religious affiliations. By examining constitutional provisions, international legal standards, and socio-legal perspectives, this paper elucidates the necessity of a UCC to uphold the principles of equality, secularism, and justice enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
