ree

ABSTRACT

The article discusses the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act of 2023, enacted by the Indian Parliament to address growing concerns over data privacy and security. It outlines key provisions such as consent requirements, rights of data principals, and obligations of data fiduciaries. The Act extends jurisdiction to cover data processing both within and outside India, aiming to enhance accountability and protection for individuals' personal data. While lauded for its accountability measures and international scope, criticisms include potential conflicts with the Right to Information Act and gaps in regulating emerging technologies like artificial intelligence.
