INTRODUCTION

In this case, we see how the health of workers are affected even after cessation of employment. Occupation health hazards suffered due to exposure by asbestos material and industries has been dealt in this writ petition which was filed by Consumer Education and Research Centre an NGO on behalf of affected workers, under which the petitioner seeks monetary compensation and liquidated damages under Article 32 from their employers. So, the petitioner seeks to fill in the yearning gaps and remedial measures for the protection of the health of the workers engaged in mines and asbestos industries with adequate mechanisms for and diagnosis and control of the silent killer disease “asbestosis”. the court gave directives to appropriate instrumentalities to make the right of workers meaningful and pay compensation to affected workers.
