Challenges And Opportunities For Improving Women's Rights In The Workplace In India: A Multi-Faceted Approach

Vrinda Yadav & Mradul Prakash Agnihotri, B.A. LLB (Hons.), UPES, Dehradun

ABSTRACT

Indian society has come a long way in recognizing and defending the rights of women in the workplace, but there are still many issues that need to be resolved. The paper examines the challenges women face at work in India, such as gender bias, discrimination, and harassment, as well as areas for change. The authors contend that a multifaceted strategy is required, including modifications to laws and policies, initiatives to educate people and raise their awareness, and assistance with women's economic empowerment. The paper provides recommendations for further steps while highlighting successful current programmes, such as the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act.

Keywords: Sexual Harassment, Women, Workplace, Legislation, Women’s rights.
