Corporate Social Responsibility In India Legal Framework And Impact Of Pandemic

ABSTRACT


The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility is based on stakeholder model and revolves around the interests of all the stakeholders. This article examines the evolution of Corporate Social Responsibility in India. It emphasises on various routes taken by “the Ministry of Corporate Affairs” before finally formulating the statutory provision on CSR under the Companies Act, 2013. The article reveals that the responsibility of Indian corporate sector towards the stakeholders is not a mere voluntary affair unlike USA and UK. The Indian companies are obliged to comply with the statutory provisions on CSR. The study also covers effect of Covid19 on CSR policy and initiatives taken by corporate sector.
