Crime Against Married Woman: A Study About Law Related To Marriage In Indian Perspective

Tanvi Priya, Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University

ABSTRACT

The research paper specifically deals with the violence related to married women in our country. Domestic violence being one of the offences against married women is increasing rapidly. Though we have certain acts (Domestic Violence Act) and provisions in codes (Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code), the cases registered are not in nominal amounts. Domestic Violence is discerned to a greater extent in rural areas as compared to urban areas. Women are ignorant of the fact that she has definite rights for the offenses happening against them, the whole acts or codes certified by the government go to vain. This specifically results in the rising of the cases and not being registered simultaneously. The scenario mentions that the government has to take measures beyond making laws and make society rigid for the offenses committed against women so that they don’t get harassed and questioned for speaking up for themselves.
