Catherine Joseph, CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Bangalore

ABSTRACT

Electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, and Internet of Things- enabled medical devices have all been used in India's healthcare industry in recent years, undergoing a considerable digital revolution. The Ayushman Bharat Unique Health Identity, the Aarogya Sethu app, and the CoWIN portal were all developed as a result of applying these digitization initiatives to the healthcare industry. This, together with the government initiative to build up digital health solutions, will result in widespread health data sharing amongst the many players, including patients, informal healers, primary care physicians, specialists, and even pharmaceutical corporations. The research paper revolves around the concept of the need of cybersecurity in the healthcare sector. The paper talks about the government initiatives which can have a high chance of data leakage and then the pros and cons of the DPDP Act, 2023. The paper also talks about the initiatives by foreign countries to secure their healthcare data from cybersecurity risks.
