Sakchie Saluja, Amity Law School, Noida

ABSTRACT

The article “Environmental and Wildlife crimes” emphasizes upon the prevailing higher risk of crimes on flora and fauna and the law being a boon to eradicate those crimes.

It is evident that human society damages the environmental for their own lavish uses. This results in the extinction of the natural resources, animals, flowers and trees species. Without an unharmed environment, life sustenance would become very difficult not only for wildlife but also for human beings. We rely on nature for livelihood and sustainable development. But do we actually care for them? The answer is undecided.

Some of the very well - known crimes are illegal or unregulated trade of animals, production of drugs or other harmful substances, selling off the products for profitable gains etc. Most of the crimes goes unreported due to the poor operational system of the government authorities. Crime is an illegal act against the public policy and highly volatile for the society. Crime goes against the humanitarian approach.

“As you sow shall you reap.”

This quote best describes the situation. If we damage the resources available to us, here, we are exploiting our future. And in return, nature will retaliate against us. So, beware of the actions you breed, may be the consequences will be harsh and undeniable.
