ABSTRACT
The United States, despite its status as a global superpower, is shown to violate the human rights of individuals detained under suspicion of terrorism. This is exemplified in the case of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, a man imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay for 14 years without evidence, as depicted in the film "The Mauritanian." The film highlights the systemic flaws in the US justice system's treatment of detainees, the use of torture, and the erosion of fundamental rights in the name of national security. The ambiguity in international laws and treaties is identified as a key factor enabling these human rights abuses.
