Introduction

Victims are the central figures of any criminal justice system, as every crime that takes places necessarily involves victims, so in the tedious and lengthy process of delivering justice, the interests of the victim have to be attended to, for the same reservations have been made for victims in the Indian legislations, stemming from an international level for recognition, protection of victims and to provide aid to them in the procedural aspects.

The UN Declaration of Basic Principles of Justice for Victims of Crime and Abuse of Power has recognized a wide definition that is aimed towards inclusivity of Victims, to ensure maximum protection of rights to victims of crime
