Human Trafficking And Modern-Day Slavery

Parthsarthi Rao, Christ (Deemed to be University)

ABSTRACT

Human trafficking and modern-day slavery are widespread worldwide issues that violate basic human rights and dignity. An overview of the complex issues surrounding human trafficking is given in this abstract, which also examines its many manifestations, underlying causes, effects, and preventative strategies. The recruitment, transportation, harbouring, or exploitation of people by coercion, fraud, or force for the purposes of forced labour, sexual exploitation, or other forms of exploitation is referred to as human trafficking. Human trafficking victims frequently endure horrendous abuse, such as physical assault, sexual assault, psychological manipulation, and denial of basic necessities. Human trafficking has many interrelated and complicated causes, including demand-side forces fuelled by consumerism and sex tourism, political instability, military conflict, and socioeconomic issues like poverty, unemployment, and lack of education. Further factors that have led to the growth of trafficking networks and the exploitation of vulnerable groups, such as women, children, migrants, and marginalised communities, are cultural norms, gender inequity, and technological improvements. Human trafficking has far-reaching effects on society as a whole, including threats to public health, financial burdens, and the degradation of legal norms and human rights. Significant obstacles still remain in the fight against human trafficking, despite increased awareness and efforts. These obstacles include corruption, underreporting, lax legal protections, and the international scope of trafficking operations. An all- encompassing, multifaceted strategy is needed to combat human trafficking, one that incorporates community-based projects, international collaboration, victim support services, law enforcement actions, and legislative measures. We may fight to prevent trafficking, protect victims, and prosecute offenders by empowering vulnerable people, fortifying legal frameworks, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders at local, national, and international levels. Maintaining human dignity and advocating for fairness for every person are essential components of our group's attempts to end human.
