Arjun Kumar Ray & Aishi Chatterjee, Amity Law School, Amity University Kolkata

ABSTRACT

The increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace has led to growing concerns about its impact on labor rights, job security, and employment discrimination. As a result, some countries have begun to develop laws and regulations to regulate AI in the labor market.

One area where AI is being used in the labor market is in hiring and recruitment processes. Some jurisdictions have introduced laws that require employers to ensure that their AI recruitment tools are non-discriminatory and transparent

Another area where AI is being used in the labor market is in monitoring employee performance. Some countries have introduced laws that limit employers' ability to use AI for surveillance purposes. For example, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives employees the right to know what data is being collected about them and how it is being used.

Some countries have introduced laws that mandate the training and up skilling of workers to mitigate the potential negative impacts of AI on employment. For instance, the French government has introduced the Skills Investment Plan, which aims to up skill workers to enable them to adapt to the changing nature of AI in the modern era.

India being a country with rising status in the international forum, the need for AI regulations are felt at every step. Through this paper, we attempt to look into the above aspect in light of the grooming trend of AIs in India and the possible impact of the same on the labour industry.
