ABSTRACT

The proliferation of social media has fundamentally transformed the relationship between public discourse and judicial processes. While digital platforms have enhanced transparency and democratized access to information, they have simultaneously introduced complex challenges to the fairness of trials. This article critically examines how social media influences public opinion and judicial conduct, with particular emphasis on the phenomenon of “trial by media,” algorithmic amplification, cognitive bias, and digital vigilantism1. It further evaluates the adequacy of existing legal frameworks and proposes normative reforms aimed at safeguarding judicial impartiality in an increasingly digital environment.
