Intellectual Property Disparities In Agrarian Communities: Identifying Farmers Conundrum

ABSTRACT:


Farmers face a lot of conundrums as the Intellectual Property Rights started evolving. The introduction of the Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) brought in several protection and framework to the innovations, creativity, and modern inventions, which also includes Agricultural Innovations. The protection to these modern innovations suppresses the Agro based farming, which causes great hindrance to the farmers. There must be a balance between these human innovations and the traditional based farming, so that it doesn’t affect the poor farmers. So, it is important to shed light on the conundrum faced by the Farmers and provide valuable suggestions for the protection and the growth of these farmers by striking a balance between the modern technology protected under the intellectual property rights and the traditional method of farming. This Article mainly highlights the dilemmas faced by the Agrarian Communities and the partiality they face due to the rise of Intellectual property Rights.
