ABSTRACT

The entertainment sector, which includes both music and movies, is at the forefront of artistic expression and technical advancement. But as a result of digital innovations and the integration of global markets, these industries have developed quickly, posing complicated legal issues, especially with regard to intellectual property (IP) law. This article examines the relationship between intellectual property law and the film and music industries, emphasising how these sectors' legal frameworks influence, safeguard, and occasionally stifle innovation and creativity.

The first part of the study looks at the fundamentals of intellectual property rights and how they relate to the production, marketing, and distribution of music and video material. It explores the complex equilibrium that intellectual property law aims to preserve between promoting creative innovation and defending the financial interests of authors and producers. A special focus is placed on copyright law, which is an essential part of intellectual property and plays a crucial role in determining ownership, licensing, and enforcement in both sectors. Within the framework of the film business, the conversation focusses on topics such digital copyright infringement, the challenges of international co-productions, and the defence of cinematic works in a market that is becoming more and more globalised. The essay examines how streaming platforms are changing music distribution, how royalties and fair use are being debated, and how these issues are affecting the music industry. In an era of rapid technological development, it provides insights into the future direction of intellectual property law and emphasises the necessity for flexible legal frameworks that can foster innovation and creativity in the entertainment sector.
