Intersection Of Law And Neuroscience: An Analysis

Shwetha Vimal, CHRIST (Deemed to be University)

ABSTRACT

Neurolaw is an interdisciplinary field that combines neuroscience and law to explore the relationship between brain function and human behavior, decision-making, and legal responsibility. The field is focused on using neuroscientific evidence to inform legal decisions and policies, particularly in areas such as free will, culpability, and punishment. It also has implications for mental health and addiction, as neuroscientific research has shown that addiction is a chronic brain disease that affects decision-making and impulse control. However, there are concerns about the reliability and validity of neuroscientific evidence in legal proceedings, as well as ethical and privacy concerns related to the use of brain imaging technologies. Neurolaw is a growing field that has the potential to shape the future of the legal system and our understanding of human behavior.
