ABSTRACT

Empowerment allows people, particularly women, to obtain access to knowledge and resources, make their own decisions, and take charge of their life while confronting limiting traditional standards. Women's empowerment has emerged as an important topic in India, showing the country's developing commitment to gender equality. The Indian Constitution specifically outlaws gender discrimination and includes a number of legal safeguards to protect and empower women. However, a sizable section of the female population is unaware of their constitutional and legal rights.

This study critically explores significant legal provisions aimed at empowering women in India, with a focus on the crucial role of constitutional instruments in advancing gender equality. It emphasizes important legislative efforts and policies initiated by the Legislature, key statutes enacted by the Executive, and transformational decisions handed down by the Judiciary. By studying these frameworks and their impact on women's rights, the report underlines the importance of increased awareness and enforcement in closing the gap between constitutional ideals and ground realities. This study emphasizes the importance of a collaborative approach to ensuring women's empowerment, fostering societal justice, and addressing persistent gender gaps in the Indian setting.
