ABSTRACT

This research paper explores the dynamic legal landscape governing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India. Assessing the current state of AI development across sectors, including healthcare, finance, and governance, the study scrutinizes existing legal frameworks. It analyzes data protection laws, intellectual property regulations, and sector-specific legislations to evaluate their adequacy in addressing the nuanced challenges posed by AI, such as accountability, transparency, and ethical considerations.

Drawing on global benchmarks, the paper offers a comparative analysis, identifying gaps in the Indian legal framework and proposing improvements. Addressing challenges, it examines ethical implications, advocates for transparent algorithms, and assesses dispute resolution mechanisms for AI- related issues. The paper concludes by providing forward-looking recommendations for potential amendments and new regulatory frameworks. By contributing to the ongoing discourse on AI regulation in India, this research aims to guide policymakers, legal practitioners, and stakeholders in navigating the intricate legal landscape, ensuring responsible and ethical AI development and deployment within the country.
