LGBTQ People In India: A Socio-Legal Examination

ABSTRACT

In this paper we talk about LGBTQ Community, that Some relief for LGBT persons came in 2018: homosexual actions that really are voluntary really aren't illegal. Which, though, is insufficient to enable them to alter the stereotyped thinking that pervades our culture. Both the families and community have done them a lot of harm. They usually had received different treatment. A particular category for same-sex oriented individuals was added to the IPC.

Nonetheless, the Hon'ble SC decriminalized a portion of Section 377 inside the decision of Navtej Singh Johar, meaning the consenting same-sex sexuality isn't any longer a crime. A quasi-sexual conduct still seems to be illegal according to section 377. So, neither decriminalization nor our culture as a whole will suffice to LGBT individuals. They continue to be denied obtaining either social or legal standing. This essay attempts to highlight the current situation of LGBT persons in India & also to educate readers about the fact they are not odd or unusual. In this essay, harms to LGBT individuals are discussed in relation to numerous societal facts and behaviors.
