ABSTRACT
Education plays a significant role in constantly accelerating growth and development and that is the reason it is given top priority among the policy makers. Education is identified as a mechanism to accomplish a sustainable planet through the 2030 goals as it succors fulfilling all the 17 sustainable development goals including the self-goal 4 dedicated to education. Despite the fact that several regulations stressed the need of providing children of all socioeconomic and scholastic backgrounds with equal opportunities to participate in formal education, existing gaps persisted. We now have a national education policy after waiting for 34 years. Among the other policies devoted to education, the latest policy 2020 is said to be promising and holistic. The challenges and drawbacks have been highlighted, analyzed and hence the present policy is an attractive tool towards sustainable development. India has adopted the 2030 agenda and hence is at the threshold of achieving it. With only eight years left towards attaining the goals, NEP seems to bridge the diversities in education and assist the country towards the goals. The motto of universalization of education has been clearly mapped covering access, inclusion and equity with quality in education. The children with disabilities are also addressed in this policy with a clear vision to achieve the SDGs.
