ABSTRACT
In recent years, space has gone from being a domain controlled by governments to a booming area of private investment and innovation. Companies like SpaceX, Blue Origin, and OneWeb are now playing a major role in space exploration, communication, and even plans for mining resources from celestial bodies. However, the laws that govern space were mostly written decades ago, during a time when only state actors were involved. This paper looks at the current legal framework, both international treaties and national laws and examines whether they are enough to regulate modern space activities. It also compares how different countries like the United States, Luxembourg, the UAE, and India are dealing with private space involvement. The paper identifies key legal and environmental challenges and makes suggestions for creating a more unified and fair global legal system that keeps space peaceful, sustainable, and accessible to all nations.
