ABSTRACT
Right to food is a basic fundamental human right of every person. This right to food is well articulated at International level through various conventions, declarations, principles etc. In India, after the independence, express recognition has been given to right to food to every person in the National Food Security Act, 2013.
It is a remarkable achievement on the part of the government to recognize right to food security expressly. The National Food Security Act, 2013 defines the recognition of right to receive foodgrains, nutritional support to children and pregnant women, right to food security allowances etc. But, merely according recognition to the right to food security doesn’t suffice the purpose unless it is effective implemented to extend benefits in real sense to the beneficiaries. Right to food security contains various different aspects such production of foods, storage, distribution and access to the foods etc. These are the major prevalent issues exist in the enforcement of the right to food security.
This research paper attempts to discuss in briefly the nature of the right to food security described in the Act as well as the inherent issues involved in the implementation of the right to food security. The object of the research paper is to analyze and provide solution to the issues address in the research paper.
