Right To Property: Historical Context And Contemporary Reforms

Samiya Choudhary, Himachal Pradesh National Law University, Shimla

ABSTRACT

This paper discusses the rights of an individual pertaining to property. It explores the changing nature of the concept of property and the transformation from a fundamental right to a mere legal or statutory right. This big change has been made by an amendment to the constitution, which repealed the provision that made it a fundamental right, and with the same amendment, one provision that made it a legal right was added. Property is one of the important things in one 's life, and it can be treated as an essential or the enjoyment of life. Therefore, the paper tries to go deep into its historical aspects and the contemporary reforms that have taken place and how the right to property stands today.
