Role Of Artificial Intelligence In Harnessing Dispute Resolution Mechanisms

Artificial Intelligence and technology have a profound impact on legal services and the growing recognition of AI is a game -changer. The Supreme Court Vidhik Anuvaad Software (‘SUVAS’) demonstrates the shift towards the embrace of legal technologies and tools in dispute resolution mechanisms. The continues advancement in AI offers more and new possibilities for resolving the disputes by transforming the dispute resolution arbitration and the mediation practices. The progression from the traditional dispute settlement mechanism to the Online Dispute Resolution (‘ODR’) and using AI can greatly improve the accessibility and user experiences. Even for India the potential for the applications of AI is vast and it continues to expand by transforming the way disputes are resolved .The NITI Aayog Expert committed report on ODR (2021), recognized the benefits of ODR and the role of AI in achieving the same, and it is been noted that this mechanism is to supplant but not to eliminate the existing model of dispute resolution mechanism. The present study explores the role of AI in existing dispute resolution mechanism ,including ODR .Consequently, it analyses the potential benefits and the challenges of this intersection by discussing the ethical as well as the legal considerations that could arise . The researcher employs doctrinal study and analytical, and exploratory method is employed to deduce the finding of this research. This study contends that Using AI in the dispute resolution mechanism significantly enhances the efficiency of dispute resolution mechanism and legal profession.
