ABSTRACT
This research paper titled “Role of NGO’s in the protection of Human Rights “investigates the pivotal role that non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play in defending and promoting human rights on a global scale. In an era marked by complex geopolitical dynamics and an evolving human rights landscape, the study examines the multifaceted contributions of NGOs in advocating for the protection of individual dignity and fundamental freedoms. The paper commences by providing a comprehensive overview of the historical context and evolution of NGOs in the realm of human rights. It explores their origins, missions, and the diverse array of human rights issues they engage with, including but not limited to civil and political rights, economic and social rights, and environmental justice. Drawing upon empirical data, case studies, and a critical analysis of the activities of various NGOs, the research paper delves into the mechanisms and strategies employed by these organizations to effect change and hold state and non-state actors accountable for human rights violations. It examines the power of grassroots mobilization, advocacy, legal action, and international partnerships in the pursuit of human rights objectives. Moreover, the study scrutinizes the challenges and ethical considerations faced by NGOs in their mission to safeguard human rights, including issues of funding, transparency, and cultural sensitivity. The findings contribute to the broader discourse on human rights and serve as a resource for policymakers, activists, scholars, and practitioners committed to advancing human rights and social justice on a global scale.
