ABSTRACT

“A merger or acquisition is not undertaken with the intention of keeping everything the same.”

Each time Mergers & Acquisitions is discussed about, the discourse as to whether it is a boon or a bane to the employees, company, and the society at large, has always prevailed. This Research Paper aims to deliver a deep understanding of the circumstances that lead to M&A and what transpires subsequently via examining the theories and types of M&A and scrutinizing the shift in its apparatus with the advent of new act regulating its mechanisms in India. Furthermore, the authors perpetuate the deliberation by alluding to its implications.

The authors have delved deep into the subject-matter in order to identify and address the rationale behind the need for this phenomenon and examine its sustainability as a robust business strategy. The scope of the paper revolves around prefatory of M&A, hypothesis, types. M&A under Companies Act 1956 & 2013, Cross-border M&A, affirmative and detrimental impact in a highly globalized world.
