ABSTRACT

The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare has had a profound impact on patient care, treatment planning, and medical diagnostics. But this quick uptake also brings up serious issues with data security and privacy. Due to their reliance on enormous volumes of private patient data, AI-powered healthcare systems are susceptible to illegal access, data breaches, and cyber attacks. One major obstacle is maintaining adherence to data protection laws, such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Furthermore, informed consent, data ownership, and algorithmic bias raise ethical issues that need for strong governance and regulatory frameworks. This study examines how AI may affect the security and privacy of healthcare data, including the risks, difficulties, and possible remedies. It emphasises how to secure patient data while promoting technology improvements in healthcare by implementing stronger encryption techniques, AI explainability, and ethical AI deployment.
