The Role Of The Feminist Movement In Upholding Women’s Rights In India

ABSTRACT

As we know our Indian society is a patriarchal society, here male preference and dominance are being followed since time immemorial and as a result women are the neglected being. Since past women’s rights are being violated, they are subject to discrimination, cruel, inhumane behaviour. A political and social movement namely Feminism, was started during late 19’s to achieve equality of gender in sphere of the society. This article examines the concept of feminism, feminist movement in India and its role in upholding the women’s right.
